Melvins / Isis - Torche / Boris - Fuck yeah

Hydra Head will release two high-profile splits this July – a 12” from Isis and Melvins and a 10” from Torche and Boris.
The two Isis songs are amongst the last recorded output to be released by the band, who recently announced they will disband. ‘Way Through Woven Branches’ has previously only been available as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of their last full length, Wavering Radiant, while second track ‘Pliable Foe’ is previously unreleased. Both tracks were recorded during the Wavering Radiant sessions.
The Melvins tracks (‘Pig House’ and ‘I’ll Finish You Off’) on the flipside are taken from their latest full-length, The Bride Screamed Murder. Appearing in “highly altered forms”, the two tracks are exclusive to this release, and were remixed and reworked by the band and engineer Toshi Kasai.
The Torche/Boris split, meanwhile, Chapter Ahead Being Fake, was previously released last year in Japan on CD via Daymare Recordings and now comes with different artwork. Both splits will see the light of day on July 14th

The Sound Strike - Artists Call to Boycott Arizona

PRESS RELEASE: Artists Boycott of Arizona, A call to artists and fans of music to stop SB 1070!!

PRESS RELEASE
Los Angeles, California, May 25, 2010
We are reaching out to get your ear for a minute about this critical situation in Arizona.
If you haven't heard, the Arizona state legislature passed a bill (SB 1070) that was signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer that legalizes and sanctions racial profiling. Straight up.
It forces the cops to hunt down and target anyone they "reasonably suspect" that may be undocumented. And if the people they harass don't have proof that they were born in the U.S., they can be detained and arrested. This must be stopped.
Fans of our music, our stories, our films and our words can be pulled over and harassed every day because they are brown or black, or for the way they speak, or for the music they listen to. People who are poor like some of us used to be could be forced to live in a constant state of fear while just doing what they can to find work and survive. This law opens the door for them to be shaked down, or even worse, detained and deported while just trying to travel home from school, from home to work, or when they just roll out with their friends.
Some of us grew up dealing with racial profiling, but this law (SB 1070) takes it to a whole new low. If other states follow the direction of the Arizona government, we could be headed towards a pre-civil rights era reality. This unjust law was set into motion by the same Arizona government that refused to acknowledge Martin Luther King Jr. day as a national holiday.
When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, they arrested her. As a result, people got together and said we are not going to ride the bus until they change the law. It was this courageous action that sparked the Montgomery bus boycott. What if we got together, signed a collective letter saying, "we're not going to ride the bus", saying we are not going to comply. We are not going to play in Arizona. We are going to boycott Arizona?!
Signed,
Zack de la Rocha
Here's a list of the courageous artists who have taken a stand for civil and human rights in this collective decision to boycott Arizona:
Cypress Hill
Juanes
Conor Oberst
Los Tigres del Norte
Rage Against the Machine
Cafe Tacvba
Micheal Moore
Kanye West
Calle 13
Joe Satriani
Serj Tankian
Rise Against
Ozomatli
Sabertooth Tiger
Massive Attack
One Day as a Lion
Street Sweeper Social Club
Spank Rock
Juanes
Sonic Youth
Tenacious D
We are asking artists the world over to stand with us, and not allow our collective economic power to be used to aid and abet civil and human rights violations that will be caused by Arizona’s odious law.

Integrity - The Blackest Curse

A new release from Integrity entitled "The Blackest Curse" is now available for preorder from Deathwish Inc.

You can place your order here

Description from the label:

Integrity have been surrounded by myth, controversy, and legend for much of their almost 20 year existence. Along with fellow Cleveland monsters Ringworm, they are responsible for laying the foundation for metallic hardcore as we know it. Not only dictating, but literally defining the wave of musical darkness that continuously influences those at the forefront of the aggressive music scene. You can hear their direct influence in bands like Rot In Hell, Rise And Fall, Converge, Hatebreed, and more.
After releasing classic albums on other labels, Integrity triumphantly returned to the spotlight in 2003 with their "To Die For" CD on Deathwish. "To Die For" recording was a true reclamation of the throne for the band. Produced and engineered by Ben Schigel (Ringworm, Mushroomhead), the collection of eight blood boiling songs served as a musical progression, all the while embracing the approach of their influential past.
After the release of "To Die For", Integrity toured Europe and the United States, eventually falling into a sort of restless hibernation. From that point on they only surfaced for the occasional festival or "one-off" show appearance. All of that changed two years later when Dwid Hellion assembled his new incarnation of the band featuring both Jochum brothers (Mike now being joined by Nate on drums), as well as "To Die For" era bassist Steve Rochourst (Ringworm, etc.). Soon Integrity began crafting ideas for what was to become "The Blackest Curse". The process was methodical and slow going, with members being divided between two continents. However after years on end of refining the material, the fiends convened in Belgium and began laying down tracks for the album. Though these initial sessions were a creative success for Integrity, due to time limitations they were left incomplete, forcing the material to lay dormant.
Fast forward to 2008; Integrity once again woke from their slumber, this time to tour Europe alongside longtime friends Converge, and Coliseum. This tour introduced the band to a whole new generation of aggressive music listeners. Following this momentum, the band then released their "Walpurgisnacht" 7"EP on A389/Magic Bullet Records. As importantly, this stirring also rekindled the fire under "The Blackest Curse" project, with vocalist Dwid Hellion recording the final vocals for the album in his home studio.
And now almost five years later, the curse has finally been cast..."The Blackest Curse" is the new album from legends, Integrity.
A ten headed beast of an album, "The Blackest Curse" is arguably the most cohesive Integrity release of the last fifteen years. With the first crushing chords of "Process of Illumination" it's apparent that Integrity are back in true form, following the metal/hardcore hybrid blueprint they forged themselves over two decades ago. The blitzkrieg bombardment of songs like "Learn To Love The Lie" and "Through The Shadows of Forever" is unrelenting, while speed demons like "Simulacra" and "Spiderwoven" are as uniquely frenzied as a metallic hardcore can get. It's not all aural brutality though, as "The Blackest Curse" proves that the root of their evil can morph into all shapes and sizes. Songs like "Before The World Was Young" and "Take Hold of Forever" showcase Integrity's trademark melodious moments as well as their dark experimental tendencies.
With "The Blackest Curse" Integrity never stray from their chosen artistic path. And like the few other legacy bands in existence (Motorhead, etc.), they don't ever need to. Their formulaic cohesive vision is why "The Blackest Curse" is truly another brilliant album, adding to their intriguing and bizarre legacy. A reign that still, after over twenty years, continues to demand a cult like devotion that is "Holy Terror" to the very core.

Building A Wall Of Sound Behind Prison Walls

Despite being in prison for murder, being under attack by fellow inmates, and not having worked on an album in 30 years, legendary "wall of sound" producer Phil Spector is back.

Phil has been working on a new record with his wife Rachelle Spector from behind prison walls. 'Out of My Chelle' will be released digitally on June 8.

Phil stated in his press release regarding the record:

"She's fantastic on this album," Spector says of his wife. "She sings better than anyone else could have! I trusted her with my life and songs and production—because she's that good."

MOOG invests 2.5 million into a new headquarters in Ashville NC

Moog Music, in conjunction with the City of Asheville and the Economic Development Coalition for Asheville Buncombe County, has officially announced a $2.5 million investment in a new downtown Asheville company headquarters. On May 18, 2010, Moog Music finalized the purchase of four vacant, 1920 era buildings 160-170 Broadway St.

“This location is ideal for Moog and our employees; we will bring commerce, economic vitality and livability to this once neglected entrance to the city,” said Michael Adams, President of Moog Music. “Our plans include an extensive renovation of the structure that will transform the façade from an eyesore to a landmark that embodies Moog’s spirit of innovation, one that our company and our community can be proud of.”
The location will house the company’s 35 employees engaged in worldwide sales and marketing, research and development, and manufacturing operations. Adams continued, “The ambience of the building was the primary selection criteria. I was looking for a building that had wood floors, old brick, and wide open spaces. Creativity drives Moog and this old building, once transformed, will inspire our entire team to continue this mission.”

Work is expected to be completed in late 2010.

In related news, yesterday was Bob Moog's birthday.
So let's all have a drink for Dr. Moog

Manufactura - As They Drown In Their Lies

You can pick up the newest Manufactura release via digital download in all formats (MP3/FLAC etc etc), by visiting the Crunch Pod bandcamp site here.

The record is only 6.99.

Here is the description from the site.

Influential, controversial, admired and despised. The Madness known as Manufactura returns with the brand new album, "As They Drown In Their Lies".

Once again blending everything from rythmhic noise to electro, dubstep, techno, trance and IDM. For this new work Manufactura has brought along a few friends for the production, for the damage and for the mayhem, including Lexincrypt, Iszoloscope, Electronic Substance Abuse (ESA) and Lucidstatic.

This particular body of work is being dedicated to all Poets, Writers, Artists & Musicians. It includes 4 tracks specifically reinterpreting the poems and songs of Charles Bukowski, Leonard Cohen, Jim Carroll & Lou Reed. Sinister, dark, twisted and filled with a distinctive malevolance that may cause this album to be considered one of Manufactura's heaviest and strongest releases to date.

Ronnie James Dio VS Westboro Baptist Church

Westboro Baptist Church has claimed that it is planning to picket the public memorial of Ronnie James Dio, who died this month from stomach cancer.

The infamous church from Kansas, who have a history of well-documented hatred towards homosexuals, are planning to protest at the memorial in Hollywood on May 30, citing that the singer is a 'Satan worshipper'.

In a statement released on Thurs. May 20, the church said the ex-Rainbow/Black Sabbath singer used his status and platform to "teach rebellion against God, in the form of glorying atheism, promoting the devil hand sign and other such idolatries."

The statement also read, "The arrogant God-hating fool changed his name from Padavona to Dio (meaning "God" in Italian). His Black Sabbath fans worshipped him as a god. He stood idly by & watched his niece, Gen Padavona, become a filthy porn star. God's promises are true, including his promise to punish the wicked forever."

I think even in death Dio will when this battle, something tells me this protest won't go ever very well for the nut cases from Westboro Baptist.

SODOM ISSUES STATEMENT ON CANCELLATION OF U.S. DATES

Due to Visa problems, German thrash legends SODOM have been forced to cancel their upcoming U.S.dates. The dates affected include May 26th in Hollywood, CA, May 28th in New York, NY, and their appearance at Maryland Deathfest scheduled for May 29th.

SODOM have issued a statement on the tour cancellation:

"Due to solid problems with our local tour promoter and getting our Visa in time, we are forced to cancel the upcoming shows. We already had our suitcases packed and were ready to go. We are awfully sorry to take these steps, but everybody acquainted with the entering provisions of the USA knows what we're talking about. We are deeply disappointed by this situation, but in the end there's the awareness, that not everything is done to our entire satisfaction. We are "only" the musicians, who would have loved to rock the USA again. We owe this to our fans, even more because we made ourselves scarce in the US since the foundation of this band, of course through no fault of our own. The one who botched this up will have to be confronted with the local organizers and club owners and account for his faults. We surely will catch up on these shows as soon as possible, which we especially owe to our fans. In the end, this set of problems redounds upon us, because we're in the front line and have to be answerable to our fans. I hope we didn't lose too many fans due to this mess, but all people who know us are aware of the fact, that we would do anything for our fans. The risk of being forbidden to enter the USA for 10 years or even getting arrested is too high. We hope for your understanding and keep you informed about the latest facts."

The band will enter the studio during the coming months to begin recording its new album for a late 2010 release. Bassist/vocalist Tom Angelripperrecently stated about the group's new material, "There has never been a SODOM album which is so wide-ranged, as powerful and as typically SODOM as this one.

SODOM issued the "Lords of Depravity - Part I" DVD in the U.S. on February 21, 2006 via SPV. The first of two double-DVD sets contained the SODOM history from 1982 to 1995 plus live footage from concerts in Sofia and at the With Full Force, Wacken Open Air and Rock Hardfestivals. "Lord of Depravity - Part 2" is scheduled for a July 13th release in the United States via SPV/Steamhammer.

"Agent Orange", the classic 1989 album from SODOM, was re-released on May 18th in the United States via SPV/Steamhammer. The CD comes in a high-class digipack and will include a bonus disc. The extensive booklet contains rare photos and liner notes by bassist/vocalist Tom Angelripper. The LP comes as a double gatefold album with printed inner sleeves and three bonus live tracks.
